There comes a time in our process of reaching goals or making life changes that we get particularly vulnerable to other peoples opinions, or lack of support.
When we set out to change our lives or reach big goals. We start out extremely excited about what we are pursuing, only to find out it is much harder than we anticipated. We work like a dog, do everything we know how to do, and it doesn’t seem to be working. Not only do we become discouraged, but the people who we thought were supposed to be our biggest fans and expected to be the ones to lift us out of our slump and encourage us to keep going. Often times our cheer leaders are no where to be found. Instead we have people validating our own discouraging thoughts. This is the point where most people give up and quit.
Other peoples lack of support doesn’t mean they don’t love us and don’t want to see us succeed. It only means that maybe they don’t see the vision like you do. Or they don’t want to see you fall on your face or get hurt. Change in you is just as hard for others to accept as it is for you to do. Our brains like familiarity and comfort. We want things to stay the same.
