Cute Girls Bedrooms

I just finished Lily’s room and it’s been so much fun putting it together.  I’ve pretty much made it the room I always dreamed of growing up 🙂

I spent a ton of time online finding inspiration, picking out furniture, bedding and accessories. I’ve mentioned CSN stores before and would like to show you a few pictures of some cute girls bedrooms I came across. This website is great because you can find pretty much anything you need, toys, kitchen ware, shoes, purses, twin beds, and the list goes on and on.

Aren’t they all so fun!!! Gosh I wish I could be a little girl again.

Home Decor Deals!!!

The other day I went to Hobby Lobby, and it is now my new favorite store!!! I love all this wrought iron stuff, and I usually shop at Rod Works or Tai Pan. Hobby Lobby had THE best deals. All this stuff I bought was 50% off. Each week they have different items on sale as well as a coupon you can use on any regular price item. These are my favorites! I got them for $6 each, and I bought a few other sets to put in different parts of the house. I really love the look, really adds a lot to a plain space.

House Update (2nd Edition)

First of all, I just wanted to let you all know I had an AMAZING mothers day. My daughter was just the sweetest, and so cute about this little surprise. She’s been DYING to show me since the day she made it in school. She could hardly wait until mothers day, and even tried talking me into letting her give it to me early, she learns that from me 🙂 I’m so bad at keeping a secret or pulling off a GOOD surprise.

Now for some more before and after pics of my house. This is the second edition, to see the first, click HERE. I thought I’d move right on to the outside of the house because I’m excited about my new outdoor furniture I got for mothers day.
Here’s the house when we bought it.

And this is AFTER!

  • We had to get a new roof
  • added the brown shakes to accent the siding
  • stained the concrete and extended the driveway since we needed more parking
  • got a new gate with stone pillars
  • built a detached garage with an office for Sean above
  • added the stone siding along the bottom

unfortunately a lot of our big trees died soon after we moved in, so we had to take them down. We added a bunch of pine trees and some other kinds as well.

These next two pictures were taken before we moved in, with all the big trees 🙁 I miss them, it was so pretty.

Our next project is to build a second level deck so this area will actually be covered providing better shade.

Family Room UPDATED

We moved into our home about 4 years ago, and ever since then we’ve been remodeling, working on one room at a time. We’ve just about finished it all, and now have it exactly the way we want it. My advice to you, is….. NEVER do this! Just buy the house the way you want it and steer clear of any major remodeling. It’s no fun living with the mess, or going without a kitchen, or having great big holes in your walls and ceilings. All I can say now, is I’m glad it’s over, and excited to share the finish product with you all.
I’ll show you one room at a time, otherwise you’ll have picture overload if I do it all at once. Here is what it looked like when we moved in. It’s crazy, because this room was actually an indoor pool at one time. The pool still exists under the floor, there is a little secret opening in the floor. Just lift a piece of wood, covered with carpet, and there is a latter there to go down with a light and everything. Kinda creepy, but I’ve decided that it’s pretty nice to have since we’re using it for our food storage 🙂




Here are the after pics, the one on the bottom is the way I decorated it, and the one on the top is Lily’s masterpiece 🙂 It’s the way she prefer’s it I guess.

Here’s the fire place before we tore off the PINK rock, and replaced it with a more updated looking stone, and a rustic mantel.


Here are some pictures of the bar area in the process of covering up the nasty turquoise countertop with some tile.

We also painted the built in book shelf black, added beadboard, and my favorite part, is the ceiling. Before it was just plain boring white, and this made such a difference as far as making the room more cozy.


Now this entertainment center is by far, my favorite piece of furniture. We got this from the Wood Connection for around $3,000. I can’t remember exactly, but I know that it was a great price, especially considering that you can pretty much design it the way you want. Beadboard, or not, any color you want, two toned, knobs, ect. I think this is the best place to find furniture because you can get the right color, shape, measurements, everything. It’s much easier to have them MAKE what you want, instead of searching and searching for just the right piece of furniture.


And here’s a bit of Sean’s touch in the room. The story of these heads requires a whole new post, but basically, it took a little bribing in order for me to agree to this.

And this is what I would like to have in this room 🙂 Isn’t it awesome!!!

A BOMB WENT OFF



Now, this is just ONE day of not cleaning. I thought I would share this with you, because isn’t this the truth. Hopefully our husbands appreciate us for all we do each day.

Thanksgiving was great, but now I feel, in Lily’s terms, “yuck”! I’m in the process of putting together, a schedule for the month of December. Starting December 1st, and going until Christmas, I want to try to balance everything, between, mind, body, soul, and most importantly, spending quality time with my little family. Who’s with me!!! I thought it would be fun to have something new to focus on each day. I’ll make a schedule to follow, then I plan to write about each day in more detail as well as a follow up on how the day went. I just want to be able to enjoy the Christmas season a little more this year, and not get so overwhelmed with all that needs to be done. I thought if I set aside a day for each thing, then I can feel confident that it will all get done, as long as I stick to the schedule.
